100 Days of Lipstick Challenge

Hi BIC!

A lot of us have talked about our huge lipstick collections, and with the passing of another National Lipstick Day, I took stock of mine. I have about 200 lipsticks and glosses and realized, I only wear about 20 of them! So I'm challenging myself (and whoever else wants to join) to use more of them. I'm going to try to wear a different lipstick every day for the next 100 days.

I really like this red orange color.  It stayed pretty well until I ate lunch.  Then it came off.   It dried down fairly quickly too.

Lipstick 277: ColourPop Lux Matte shade Brucie: 

This was before I added Ami Colé’s foundation stick to mask nose redness and blend/buff/tone down that blush.

I haven’t worn this in a long time but couldn’t remember why. Today jogged my memory: Brucie’s a lot drier than my other ColourPop Lux Matte bullets, and I think that was also true back when I bought this shade. Brucie applies like a creamy demi-matte, then settles into a true matte finish my lips aren’t fond of. It’s also patchier than my other teal/blue bullets. I can easily fix that during application, but the patches reappear as Brucie settles in. 😒 And it doesn’t have as long a weartime or nearly as graceful a weardown as some of my other blues & teals. Brucie’s weardown is so obnoxious, I have to reapply several times throughout the day. Photo evidence below—and no, I’m not wearing a lip liner in these photos:

So yeah, Brucie’s a goner. I’m sure some folks would keep it just for all the bats on the case and bullet, and because it was a special edition collab (I’ve never followed this collaborator, so that never mattered to me 😂). As I’ve done with all my decluttered bullets that haven’t gone bad, I’ll try rehoming it. But good grief, Brucie performs much worse than JV and Getty, 2 ColourPop blues/teals I love. 

Forgot to mention this in my last post: when I decided to ombré that Shu Uemura orange metallic lipstick with a lip liner, I initially tried PATRICK TA Major Headlines Precision Lip Crayon She's Not From Here which is a lovely tomato orange/fiery red liner. But it was painfully tuggy and dry on my lips. I have one other shade of Patrick’s lip liner and I don’t recall it being dry, but I’ll need to test it soon because this shade right here is getting the boot. It’s not a lipstick, so I won’t add it to my running list below. It is another declutter though.
